About:

Justinen was born and raised in Rocky Mountain House, AB and learned to ski and snowboard in a recreational manner at the ages of 4 & 10.  Living in Rocky, Kennedy had little to no access to elite sports and no access to snowsports programs whatsoever.  Justinen focused their younger years on accessible sports & moved to Kelowna at 18 to be closer to the mountains.

At age 21, Kennedy acted on a lifelong desire to compete in elite level snowboarding with no prior training or experience.

"2022 created room for me to compete on the NorAm Cup after losing an opportunity to compete on the World Cup due to covid-19 closures, canceling a qualification race.

October through November of 2021, I completed three training blocks.  First in Saas Fee, Switzerland where I had access to an sbx track, followed by some freeride & carving training in Hintertux, Austria.  Finally in Pitztal, Austria, where I had access to another snowboardcross track.

As I prepared physically and mentally to finish in the Top 3 on the NorAm Cup, I felt fortunate to continue to grow a community of supporters, and share in the highs and lows of training as a professional athlete.

In 2020 - Justinen's second competitive year - they achieved the minimum World Cup criteria and finished 9th overall on the NorAm Cup.

In 2021 we hosted a LIVE Stream event and Silent Auction on Saturday September 11th.  The event was successful in raising funds for some pre-season costs; including BC Snowboard Team Fees, flights to Switzerland & some meals along the way.

Kennedy is hosting another Silent Auction and live event October 13th-15th 2022, online through trellis.org/journey-2-olympics .

We invite you to join TeamSBX, and participate in the Silent Auction, purchase a Team Snowboardcross Hoodie or LIVE event this October (2022) in support of training blocks in Europe and preparation for the World Cups.

Together we will make it to World Stages.  Join hundreds of people who have contributed through multiple fundraising platforms.
